In the post lockdown world, we have seen how important it is for our children and young people to re build their confidence and creativity, to get involved, and as one of our parents said ‘get their mojo back’!
Our new term has been an opportunity for our students to work together, communicate and build their skills and relationships again. It has been heart-warming to watch the awkwardness brought on by lockdown and online classes melt away through a vocal warm up or Drama game. It has been wonderful to see the students move freely and laugh at how out of breath they are following so long sitting at their screens. It has been inspiring to see our incredible teachers back sharing their specialist knowledge and passion in the studio, and it has all been so much fun!
Our constant aim has always been to build the skills that young people can use throughout their lives. Some will (and have) found careers in the Performing Arts. All our graduates have remembered their time with us when answering questions confidently in an interview, given presentations in exam coursework or been the loudest and most confident in the school play!
This term was a new opening. We are building our services too as we work more with companies and businesses to help their team speak and present confidently and effectively. The Confidence Space is generating a real buzz. A lot of our grown-up clients at The Confidence Space wish they had The JPA Academy when they were younger! But it is never too late to lean new behaviour to become your best version. The Financial Times agrees in this article (one of the few that I would be able to understand!) https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.ft.com/content/d22b02c2-8b0f-11e2-8fcf-00144feabdc0
It’s a vital part of corporate training, and our tactics and exercises become part of the everyday business tool kit.
As we ramp up the pace on rehearsals for our Christmas Charity Show, we are helping our students find their voice, find their strength to volunteer, and push to their potential. It’s a great chance to show how far they have come already as they settle back to their full lives. Seeing the hands go up from an entire class of Juniors to volunteer for a solo, being able to hand a script to any Senior and hear the lines brilliantly delivered is inspiring us as we head toward Christmas (already!)
The past year has affected everyone. Our young people need the opportunity to recover and build for their futures. We are proud to be helping and guiding them to find their passions and best selves.
Since restrictions have been lifted, we are building class numbers now. Come and be part of the best theatre school in Kent. See our main website to arrange a free taster session or get your team to book The Confidence Space.
